2020 has been one of the craziest years we have experienced with COVID-19 shutting down the country, civil unrest, disasters, and even wildfires in our backyards. It’s understandable to not be planning for your home projects with all that’s going on around us.
I’m just as guilty as the next person when it comes to not planning well. For example, it’s not uncommon in the summer to forget about a leak or rot repair until the next rainy season when that leak starts back up again. You’re not alone. Just try calling a roofer to come out for your emergency, and it could be weeks before they come out because they’re busy with the other thousands of people stuck in the same crisis. Now you’re struggling and under pressure to get this fixed before there is more damage to your home.
I don’t know if “planning makes perfect,” but it sure will go a long way to making life more comfortable. I don’t know how many times I have broken something while out skiing or camping that I know I need to fix before I go out again, only to wait for months and then rush at the last minute to resolve the problem. This always ends up seeming to cost more than if I had used my time wisely.
