Recently, we were hired to remodel a deck in Seattle. This deck was no normal, backyard deck. It was a rooftop patio!
The project began with the plan that the deck would utilize the full rooftop. However, as we started the work, we found some structural barriers that limited the amount of area we could convert. Even though the footprint was smaller than originally planned, it was still enough space to create a classy rooftop deck.
We built a designated space for the grill. We added railing for safety purposes, making sure to choose railings that fit in with the sleek, modern design of the remodel. We updated all the flooring with composite decking which will withstand the elements. We also included some faux grass for the homeowner’s dogs to enjoy!
Now, you’re probably wondering how long projects like this take. Typically, projects like this only take a few months at most for us to finish. This remodel took longer, almost a year to be exact, because of the backlog in permitting and the switch from a large rooftop deck to a small one. These unprecedented obstacles aren’t very common, and as such, most projects like this breeze by in considerably less time.
