A client called needing a new look for their daughters’ bathroom. Their bathroom was dark, closed-in, outdated, and cluttered. It was situated in their basement, which naturally caused the room to be dark. However, the client believed we could create a brighter, roomier, and warmer space out of it.
We began by tearing down the shower. We removed the prefab shower insert. Then, we tore down the wall between the shower area and the rest of the bathroom. This step was extremely helpful in making the room feel larger and allowing the light to reach through the space. We even added extra recessed lighting to the shower space. We installed wrap-around glass walls for the new shower with a door to allow all the light to shine through. We made the shower out of large tiles for easy cleaning. We installed a brushed nickel detachable shower head. We also added a built-in shelf niche with matching tile into the shower for ready-to-use storage space.
Next, we tackled the rest of the bathroom. We removed the old vanity, sink, and mirror. We ripped out the old floor and baseboards and replaced them with tiles that matched the shower. We installed more recessed lighting and modernized the wood-wrapped lighting above the sink. We set up a new floating vanity with lots of storage. The floating vanity helped make the space feel less cluttered, allowing for more open space on the floor. We inserted a modern trough sink into the vanity. Lastly, we hung a suitably sized mirror to give the illusion of a larger room.
The client’s daughters are thrilled with their new, bright, roomy bathroom!
