Being Thankful

Being Thankful

2020 has been a challenging year for many families and businesses. Our business, staff, and clients have not been immune to the challenges that befell us all.

Yet, 2020 also has been a year for which we can give thanks. We are still in business, and we can get up each day and breathe Northwest air and view the seasonal changes in our community. Before we move on from 2020 and welcome a fresh start in 2021, we wish to celebrate the holidays and recognize the kindness and encouragement provided by our families, friends, coworkers, and clients even when that recognition must be mostly online.
This Thanksgiving and Christmas season and throughout the holidays, we will be taking time off to appreciate what’s important in our lives and see the beauty and goodness around us. All of us will enjoy holiday foods and traditions, and those with young children/grandchildren will enjoy watching them express joy and enthusiasm for family activities.

Our staff and I wish you a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year. Please know that you are part of the Shirey Home Pro family. We appreciate your support and will be here as your home advisor as we happily transition to 2021.

From Garage to Accessory Dwelling Unit

ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units) are becoming more popular than ever for multiple reasons. Over the last few years, some municipalities have made it easier for homeowners to install ADUs. For example, Seattle’s Mayor, Jenny Durkan, signed legislation in 2019 to remove regulatory barriers and make it easier for property owners to create ADUs in Seattle’s single-family zones. Seattle has ten pre-approved plans that they claim the permitting department only needs 30 days to approve to issue a permit.
