Home Office

Most people didn’t know when they bought their houses that they would end up needing home offices. The pandemic has left many people in the lurch when finding a space to work from home.
If you’re someone who requires a designated office space in your home and you need help designing and building it, we’re here for you. We can make the home office you never knew you always wanted. We can add a room to your house, restructure your home’s layout, or convert a current space to fit a separate workspace.

We’ve found that the best home offices we’ve created so far are loft style. Having a home office loft allows you to keep an eye on the little ones while having enough distance to join Zoom calls and finish projects.

Another recommendation is not to include a closet in the design of your new home office. Especially if you’re in a hurry, adding a closet to the office means that the new room would need a permit because it’s considered a bedroom, which takes longer to get than the permits for rooms without closets.

From Garage to Accessory Dwelling Unit

ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units) are becoming more popular than ever for multiple reasons. Over the last few years, some municipalities have made it easier for homeowners to install ADUs. For example, Seattle’s Mayor, Jenny Durkan, signed legislation in 2019 to remove regulatory barriers and make it easier for property owners to create ADUs in Seattle’s single-family zones. Seattle has ten pre-approved plans that they claim the permitting department only needs 30 days to approve to issue a permit.
