Every June, we celebrate National Homeownership Month—a time to recognize the pride, responsibility, and long-term value that come with owning a home. For many families, a home is more than just a place to live. It's where memories are made, milestones are celebrated, and futures are built. It's also one of the largest investments most people will ever make.

The Remodelers Council hosted its annual Awards banquet, the REX/T-REX Awards, on April 25. It’s an industry celebration honoring the best projects by local remodelers and tradespeople. We are proud to share that we won an award in this year's contest for a beautiful secondary full bathroom remodel.

Below is the annual Zonda Home Cost vs Value report. Homeowners have long debated whether to remodel while living in the home and enjoying the updates or to wait until they’re ready to sell.

Since 1982, Shirey Home Pro has proudly served King County homeowners with remodeling and repair services built on trust, consistency, and long-term relationships.

The Master Builders Association (MBA) has been working with contractors across King and Snohomish counties to build free wheelchair-access ramps for people in need since 1993. Shirey Home Pro (SHP) is proud to be one of the contractors that have built over 650 ramps since the program began. We look forward to being involved again in 2026.

17 years ago, Brenda Long walked through the doors of Shirey Handyman, owned by Donna and Riley Shirey, and at the end of 2025, she retired. Donna and Riley would say, she was one of the best hires they ever made. Jon Elkins, the current owner of what is now Shirey Home Pro, would fully agree.

Once upon a time, there lived a man named Glen. Glen lived in a beautiful Bellevue home—a regular-shaped home, not a shoe-shaped one. He lived peacefully for ages until one night, when clinks and clanks from the roof awakened him. Glen feared the worst – he feared Christmas critters took up occupancy in his chimney while resting between seasons. After calling Shirey Home Pro, Edgar came out to assess the situation. It was confirmed – RACCOONS! And rot!

The Jones home was built in 1966 and is 1958 square feet, with three bedrooms and two baths. They remodeled the kitchen, living room, family room, and laundry room. Each remodel included base and wall cabinets, new flooring, and electrical and plumbing work.

This was Shirey Home Pro's 5th annual pumpkin painting team bonding event. It's always a good time surprising the newbies as the veterans jump right in. Looks like we may have one artist among us? The rest of us shouldn't quit our day jobs. LOL
